Marrisa’s earliest cultural influences find their roots in her religion and her family. She was brought up in an environment where service to others was at the centre of family values. Her father, a high ranking leader in NASA was deeply committed to developing others and creating equal opportunities for everyone. Marrisa’s mother was actively engaged in supporting AIDS patients since the eighties, when AIDS was still surrounded by mystery and fear.
The example of her parents stuck with her throughout her life and inspired her to make her own contribution to enabling others live a life of dignity and potential. So much so that today Marissa is a growth strategist on a mission to educate, equip, & empower 100 million entrepreneurs & leaders with the skillsets and mindsets they need to reach their greatest potential.
In our interview, Marissa talks about the importance of self-awareness for leaders who want to shape the culture of their organisation. She emphasises the critical role organisational values play and the process she uses to help clients define their core values, mission and vision. She also talks about companies she admires for their culture and how she approaches cultivating a successful culture in her own business.
